Job Description

Associate CFO / Senior Financial Analyst (Remote, Part-Time with Growth Potential)

About Finance Fight Club

Finance Fight Club is on a mission to make CFO-level clarity accessible for small to mid-sized businesses ($1M–$20M in annual revenue). We help owners make smarter, faster financial decisions that give them back control of their time and margins.

We aim to roll-up our sleeves to help small business owners achieve their dreams.

Our Core Values
Empowerment & Freedom – Business ownership should serve your life, not consume it. We focus on getting owners paid what they need to thrive while growing margins.
Ethics Above All – We offer straightforward, honest advice that supports long-term success for our clients based on their goals, not our agenda.
Entrepreneurial Mindset – We build, iterate, and innovate without clinging to “how it's always been done.” Our financial presentations should help clients understand, not impress other finance professionals.
Simplicity & Accessibility – We make finance approachable, practical, and even fun. We communicate without jargon so clients aren't confused by fancy language.
Delivering Tangible Value – Clients should see measurable results. When they achieve full independence, we celebrate it. Our hope is that clients grow to hire internal CFOs or sell their businesses successfully.
Relentless Learning & Growth – We learn constantly, improve endlessly, and lift those around us.

The Role

We're hiring an Associate CFO / Senior Financial Analyst to help build financial clarity and strategy for small business clients. This person will support monthly reporting, forecasting, and model-building—all while translating finance into meaningful advisory conversations for business owners.

This is for you if:

  • You love analyzing financial data.
  • You're a fellow finance and accounting nerd who can read a P&L and Balance Sheet in your sleep.
  • You love routine and repetitive financial tasks.
  • You love serving the small business community.
  • You want to make a real impact in the lives of business owners, often dealing with major life events.
  • You don't shy away from providing guidance even if a business owner may not be willing to follow or fully agree.
  • You are excited about being in a small and growing company and helping define the culture and SOPs.
  • You bring a process mindset, improving and documenting routines so we all move faster, together
  • You communicate progress and potential roadblocks early, never waiting until something's late to ask for help
  • Feedback energizes you—if something isn't working, you're ready for the challenge

This is a remote (US Based), 1099 contractor role (10–15 hours per week) with the goal to transition to W2 within 12 months if the fit is right on both sides. The role can grow into a full-time position (up to 35 hours/week—we're not workaholics here).

This position begins hands-on but is designed to grow into a client-facing advisory role, setting you up for CFO-level work within a supportive, learning-driven firm.

We are also open to a fractional CFO engagement if the fit is right. Title and compensation based on the candidates that apply. If our team excites you we want to hear from you even if you don't feel like you're an exact match.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets for small business clients.
  • Review and interpret monthly financials in Fathom, QuickBooks, or similar tools.
  • Analyze trends, margins, and cash flow to uncover insights and opportunities.
  • Outline cash obligations and upcoming commitments for clients.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and contribute insights for strategic planning.
  • Create and refine financial processes that save time and increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the firm's Lead CFO to turn data into stories clients can understand.
  • Work closely with the FFC team to take initiative to update and create SOPs as we scale.
  • Support business owners through key decisions—sharing insights backed by data and perspective–helping clients make confident, actionable decisions.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You thrive in figuring things out even when data is incomplete. You're curious, emotionally intelligent, and never satisfied with surface-level answers.

  • Strong background in financial analysis, modeling, and business finance.
  • Experience managing a P&L and Balance Sheet and creating budgets.
  • Must have direct work experience and/or a degree in finance.
  • Experience—or serious interest—in small business finance versus large corporations.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization in a flexible, remote environment.
  • Values relationships and clients deeply—wants to help them win.
  • Unafraid to ask questions, test ideas, and develop advisory skills hands-on.
  • Proficient with technology but grounded in human judgment and critical thinking.
  • Highly proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and building complex models that give clarity to the end user, not other finance people. This is a non-negotiable requirement for our team.
  • comfortable with Slack, Zoom, and eager to master new productivity/FP&A tools

Bonus points if you:

  • Have fractional CFO, management consulting experience, or other relevant experience.
  • Use Fathom, or similar reporting platforms.
  • Have experience in accounting, controllership, or small business finance.
  • M&A, small business acquisition, or owning your own business experience a plus.

What You're Not

  • A corporate-only thinker or big-company operator (though large-company experience is still valued).
  • Dependent on AI tools for every answer
  • Ego-driven or dismissive of small business realities.
  • Afraid to advise clients through challenging scenarios.

Compensation & Structure

  • Start as a 1099 contractor with the intent to convert to W2 within 12 months if it's a great fit on both sides.
  • 10–15 hours/week to start, with clear potential to increase over time if you are interested.
  • Remote, flexible schedule—work from anywhere in the U.S., with consistent, client-facing hours. Please plan to be available 10am–2pm PT at least two to three weekdays per week, while retaining flexibility for life events.
  • Hourly pay: $55–$70 per hour DOE, with performance-based review and room to increase after 6 months.
  • Growth: Defined pathway toward a full CFO role as the firm and your responsibilities expand.

Benefits & Perks

  • Remote Work Flexibility: Enjoy autonomy and balance—work from any U.S. location, with core collaboration hours and flexibility for personal needs.
  • Tech Stipend: Annual allowance to enhance your home office setup (hardware, software, or workspace upgrades).
  • Professional Growth: Clear opportunity to advance into a full CFO role aligned with your career goals and the firm's growth.
  • Gym Membership Reimbursement (W2 employees): Invest in your health with support for fitness memberships.
  • Dedicated Exercise Breaks: Take time during the workday for movement, wellness, or simply to recharge—your wellbeing is valued here.

Our Culture & Growth Path

We're a values-driven, entrepreneurial firm that believes finance should empower, not overwhelm, small business owners.

If you want to learn the “why” behind every number, think like an advisor, and help reshape how small businesses approach money, this role is your on-ramp.

As you grow, you'll gain more ownership of client relationships and the potential to advance into a Lead Fractional CFO role or equivalent position within the firm.
