Compensation and Position Management Consultant (Temporary) Charlotte, NC Position Number: STMP15 Division: Business Affairs Department: Human Resources (Adm) Work Unit: Compensation and Position Management Working Hours: 40 per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm Pay Rate: $30 - $35 per hour Minimum Experience/Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 2 years of experience in compensation analysis, design, or administration; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, finance, or a related field and 2 years or more of recent experience as a Compensation Consultant, HR business partner, HR specialist, or HR Advisor. Experience with compensation data, Excel, and an understanding of regulatory guidelines. Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills are essential for data interpretation and making recommendations. Demonstrated ability to multitask, set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities and deliver against competing deadlines. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills and a team‑oriented mindset. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Passion for continuous process improvement. Solutions‑oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving. Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively. Duties and Responsibilities Support the organization’s compensation program by providing consulting support for the major areas of compensation including job classification, salary setting, internal equity, temporary roles, attraction and retention payments, and FLSA compliance. Research and analyze market pay rates and internal comparisons to support the determination of salary and grade levels for a broad range of non‑faculty positions at the University, preparing classification, salary, and title recommendations. Meet with clients as needed; collaborate frequently with HR client service team and talent acquisition to meet compensation service delivery needs. Serve as an internal resource for information regarding standard compensation policies, practices and programs. Support the unit through training sessions to enhance understanding of compensation and position management policies, procedures, and best practices. Assist in data collection for ongoing compensation programs as well as major compensation initiatives and projects. Assist in the design and development of delivery tools, communications and training that support University compensation programs, policies and projects. Collaborate with other university departments to obtain needed documentation for employee personnel files and other HR records, ensuring accuracy and timely updates. Assist in planning, developing, revising, and implementing human resources records policies, procedures, and forms. Other work assignments as necessary for Compensation and Position Management unit. If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions. Benefits Information Temporary hourly workers (eligibility based on FTE, duration of more than 30 days): FTE .75+ (cumulative of all jobs) or measured full‑time offered high deductible health insurance. Temporary salaried workers (regardless of the FTE, duration of more than 30 days) reported as full‑time & offered the high deductible health insurance.
