Job Title: Cost Accountant – Manufacturing

Location: Lawton, OK (73505) | 100% On-Site

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Pay: $70,000 – $80,000 annually (based on experience)

Type: Temp-to-Hire

Overview:

A leading manufacturer in the Lawton area is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent temp-to-hire opportunity for a driven accounting professional who enjoys working hands-on in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze manufacturing costs, monitor inventory transactions, and maintain accurate cost records.
• Prepare and review cost reports and monthly variance analyses.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes with cost and production data.
• Conduct periodic audits of inventory and production cost data for accuracy.
• Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure accurate cost allocation.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and review work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods valuation.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities related to cost accounting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cost efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Support management with financial insights and ad hoc cost analyses.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting , preferably in a manufacturing environment .
• Strong understanding of GAAP, cost allocation, and inventory management principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments.
