The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Disease is seeking academically oriented cardiologists to join the Section of Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Pulmonary Vascular Disease. UAB is a nationally recognized leader in cardiology with a distinguished legacy in cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and pulmonary hypertension. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic clinical program with a dedicated inpatient service, high volume outpatient clinics and a catheterization suite. Research activities of the Section encompass all aspects of basic, clinical, translational, and implementation science research. The ideal candidate carries a passion to provide educate residents and fellows and advance the overall mission of the Division to deliver world-class discovery and patient-centered cardiovascular care to everyone in a supportive and collegial environment. Applicants must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure. Experience in Pulmonary Hypertension is preferred but not required. Rank and tenure status determined based on qualifications and experience. A pre-employment background investigation is conducted upon selection for employment. Physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine affiliates must complete and pass the pre-employment drug and nicotine screen prior to hire.
