Based in the Jacksonville area, The Boat Company is expanding its presence in the luxury cruise market, and we are looking for a passionate and results-driven Sales Specialist to join our team and deliver exceptional Alaskan adventures to our guests.

Position Summary:

As a Sales Specialist at The Boat Company, you will be responsible for driving sales of our luxury cruises through the stunning waters of Southeast Alaska. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a customer-focused environment and has a passion for luxury travel. You will work closely with potential guests, guiding them through the booking process and crafting personalized cruise experiences that align with their preferences. The ideal candidate will have strong sales skills, excellent phone communication abilities, and a desire to gain knowledge of Southeast Alaska, all while providing the highest level of customer service.

The working hours of this position could vary between weekdays, weeknights and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy & Execution :
    • Identify and engage potential clients interested in luxury cruises through Southeast Alaska, including both individual travelers and corporate groups.
    • Develop and implement personalized sales strategies to meet and exceed booking targets, highlighting the unique features and experiences of Southeast Alaska.
    • Manage the entire sales cycle, from lead generation through closing bookings, ensuring that each clients needs are met with precision and care.
  • Customer Relationship Management :
    • Build and maintain lasting relationships with clients, ensuring they feel valued and supported throughout the booking process.
    • Provide expert guidance on the highlights of Southeast Alaska, helping clients choose customized itineraries that align with their interests, such as wildlife viewing, cultural experiences, and scenic exploration.
    • Follow up with past clients to encourage repeat bookings, provide updates on new itineraries, and request referrals.
  • Communication Skills :
    • Utilize strong phone communication skills to engage with potential clients, answering inquiries, discussing cruise options, and guiding them through the booking process.
    • Manage email communications, respond promptly to inquiries, and send personalized follow-ups to keep potential clients informed and engaged.
    • Handle a variety of communication channels, including phone, email, and other forms of digital communication, to provide seamless and professional customer service.
  • Product Knowledge & Presentation :
    • Become an expert on The Boat Companys luxury cruise offerings, including onboard amenities, expedition excursions, and tailored itineraries designed to showcase the best of Southeast Alaska.
    • Conduct engaging and informative presentations, both virtually and in person, to prospective guests, demonstrating the value of our unique cruise experiences.
    • Stay current on trends in the luxury cruise and travel industries, as well as on specific Southeast Alaskan destinations and excursions, to provide clients with the best advice.
  • Sales Reporting & Analysis :
    • Track and manage sales activity using CRM software, providing regular updates on leads, bookings, and forecasts to the sales team and management.
    • Analyze sales data to identify trends, customer preferences, and areas for improvement, helping to refine strategies for better results.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork :
    • Collaborate closely with the marketing and operations teams to ensure alignment on sales campaigns, promotional offers, and itineraries tailored to the Southeast Alaskan market.
    • Contribute to the creation of new marketing materials, including brochures, email campaigns, and digital content, aimed at attracting high-net-worth clients.
    • Participate in team meetings, share insights on sales strategies, and collaborate with colleagues to improve overall performance.
    • Maintain communications and relationships with multiple office locations including our West Coast Reservations Office to ensure a seamless partnership across multiple cross-functional business groups and operations.

Qualifications :

  • Proven sales experience, ideally in the luxury travel, cruise, or hospitality industry.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with affluent clients.
  • Excellent phone communication skills, including the ability to manage a high volume of calls and maintain professionalism during phone, email, and other digital interactions.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively, especially in a remote or dynamic sales environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with travel booking software, preferably TravelTek.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, etc).
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in selling luxury cruises or high-end travel experiences.
  • A strong passion for Southeast Alaska, its wildlife, culture, and travel opportunities.
  • Familiarity with Southeast Alaska, its ports, excursions, and unique cultural and natural features.
