WEEKLY HOURS .5 COURSE CREDIT: 4 hrs/wk or 70 hours/semester, plus complete a 20 hour self-reflection project during the last week20-hour18 of the internship.

The internship is unpaid, and interns will not receive any financial compensation.

Summary of Position

• Students selected for this position will manage the DECA snack bar (i.e., Eagles Nest) at Eldorado High School and be responsible for the following tasks
  • Responsible for scheduling student shifts to maintain.Inappropriate coverage for lunch and after school activities
  • Responsible for ordering after-school programs as needed
  • Will do basic accounting to include daily deposits, balancing vendor accounts, and ensuring vendor bills are paid
  • Supervise students/employees while working in Eagles Nest
  • Balancing cash drawers
  • Serving student bodies and customers of a school-based enterprise, which includes students, staff, and community members
  • General cleaning and maintenance, once of the store as needed
  • Marketing activities to include promotion of holidays, special events, new products and updated menus
  • Serve as role model for business, students
  • Must meet health department guidelines and hold a NM Food Handlers Card

Hard Skills

• Enrolled in High School or GED
• Have completed Introduction to Business and am currently enrolled in or have completed Business Management
• Recommendation from Business Management teacher and/or DECA Advisor

Soft Skills

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Organized student with a positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn
• Attention to work rules and deadlines

Exposure & Training provided through internship

We will teach you how to perform basic repairs on vehicles while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Working and Physical Conditions/Onboarding Requirements (**vaccinations, etc.)

Please speak to your SEL Teacher/Advisor/Mentor regarding working and physical conditions at your intern site. You will also be required to sign and upload a Parental Permission form. In addition, you will be required to electronically acknowledge Non-Disclosure and Internship agreements.

As part of your application, you will be expected to fill out your emergency contact information, school, and other personal information as required by Albuquerque Public Schools Work-Based Learning programs and the New Mexico Public Education Department. Failure to do so or omission, or erroneous information will result in your application being rejected.
