Liquor Store Manager


Job Summary


Job Purpose: Manages the daily operations of the liquor department, promotes customer confidence and loyalty, ensures product quality and service, executes merchandising plans, and manages store expenses and records. Supervises, trains, and develops team members, embracing diversity and supporting an inclusive environment. This position requires physical labor, delegation, team building, leadership, planning, and administrative work.

Essential Responsibilities



  1. SERVICE (60%) : Create a welcoming environment, ensure proper merchandising and stock levels, maintain freshness and quality, and assist customers with product selection.

  2. LEADERSHIP (20%) : Promote trust among associates, collaborate, communicate, set goals, manage schedules, and ensure legal compliance.

  3. FINANCIAL (10%) : Handle administrative tasks, monitor expenses, manage cash, oversee inventory, and report discrepancies. Ensure product safety and quality, and meet sales and shrink targets.

  4. COMPLIANCE/SAFETY (10%) : Maintain safety standards, food handling, sanitation, regulatory compliance, and safety training. Report safety issues and ensure safe working conditions.

Qualifications


Required Education: High School / GED

Language Requirements: English (required), Spanish (preferred)

Relevant Experience: 0-3 years supervisory experience


  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Pre-employment drug test and background check

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Basic math skills and computer proficiency

  • Ability to handle stress

Environmental Factors


Physical demands include standing, walking, manual dexterity, repetitive movements, reaching, lifting, and working in various indoor/outdoor conditions. Safety risks involve working with hazardous equipment and substances. Equipment used includes cleaning supplies, registers, scales, and material handling tools. PPE is required.

Shift & Travel


Varied shifts. No overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be 21+

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently

  • Work authorization and background clearance

  • Previous assistant manager experience

  • Computer proficiency

  • Guest service skills
