Castle Biosciences Inc. is growing, and we are looking to hire a Medical Writer working from our Friendswood, TX, or Pittsburgh, PA, @ Nova Place office location, with a start date prior to October 16, 2025.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF R&D, Medical Writer,

As a Medical Writer, you will play a key role in developing and writing scientific literature that demonstrates the value of Castle's products. In this position, you will contribute to the creation of marketing and commercial materials to support Castle Biosciences' customer-facing teams. Your primary responsibilities will include writing, submitting, and revising manuscripts, as well as preparing conference materials focused on clinical validation, clinical utility, and scientific reviews. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with R&D team members, cross-functional teams within Castle, and external partners to ensure the accuracy and quality of all written materials. This role also involves reviewing, summarizing, and communicating scientific literature. Given the nature of the work, a significant portion of your time will be spent at the computer. The primary objective of the Medical Writer is the writing of manuscripts and abstracts and other literature such as presentations that convey the clinical validity and utility of Castle's tests. The Medical Writer will work with the R&D team to establish requirements and timelines for publication objectives, including planning to achieve deadlines for manuscript and conference abstract submission and/or presentation. The Medical Writer will facilitate publication management by maintaining Castle's literature libraries and databases, tracking reviews by authors, addressing comments, and managing the process to journal or conference submission.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's or PhD in life sciences, or a bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of postgraduate medical writing experience in life sciences or equivalent industry experience in the biotech sector.
  • Training in the life sciences (BS, MS, or Ph.D.) with a clinical and scientific understanding of oncology
  • Proven writing skills with examples of application to the oncology field
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while working in a fast-paced environment

SCHEDULE/TRAVEL

  • Minimal travel.
  • The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5 days a week in office working from our Friendswood, TX or Pittsburgh, PA office locations, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Occasionally, off-hour work will be required to facilitate communication and meet deadlines.
